Who Can Benefit from ACP?
The poor, so as families and individuals with incomes below 200% of Federal Poverty Guidelines are the main group targeted by ACP. For instance, a one-person home earning below $29,160 per year would be able to qualify, while a family of four with an income of under $60,000 could also qualify.
College students who receive a Federal Pell Grant in the current award year are also eligible, meaning they can now afford internet for online classes and research.
Enrolled members of federally recognized tribes who live on qualifying Tribal lands can get enhanced ACP benefits, including increased discounts on broadband service.
And some internet providers may offer ACP eligibility to households that have a temporary sudden loss of income — due, for instance, to job loss or a medical emergency — even if they don’t fit the standard criteria.
