What Are the Benefits of ACP?
The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a United States federal program that works to help low-income families purchase connected devices and get online. The program, established by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), offers families with income that qualify for the program a discounted broadband connection with a one-time discount for a laptop, tablet or desktop computer.
The ACP provides $30 a month internet service (or up to $75 a month, if to families on Tribal land) as well as $100 towards the cost of a device (with a none-too-punishing co-pay). Households also must satisfy income requirements (200 percent of the federal poverty level or below) as well as participate in assistance programs such as SNAP, Medicaid, WIC or Lifeline, to be eligible for the benefit.
